Misha thundered into the doorway. Every step she took was filled with determination. She couldn’t believe herself for letting a few smart-ass comments hold her back on her first day here. Up north she would have torn their heads from their throats. What about Dazuma, could he blame him for putting her in the sight of the Destati? She was so frustrated from all sides, her only vector was forward, and down. Since she had had to duck beneath the doorway due to her large height. What awaited her on the other side was a very simplistic lecture hall compared to the grandeur of the Conversatory. There were 20 desks of wood that could seat 4 people approximately, or just one Misha, In rows of 4 from the front of the room toward the back. It was like she was standing atop a valley, the way the desks progressively lowered into the floor. No wonder There were no windows. The lecture halls were geniusly built into the floor to save space. Along the walls were various diagrams and tapestries of events that occurred across the planet. There were charts of the twin moons and suns and the way Vescrutia migrated amongst them which was also Neovia’s insignia, the eye of infinity. Misha followed the tapestries toward the center of the lecture hall, down the lower levels where one very large bird was putting away some papers. Misha almost lost her breath… she thundered down the stairs.

“Counselor Hughes! Is the Astral Year truly upon us?! Counselor!”

Her steps were giving off vibes of overly pissed. He just followed the rampant thumps of her walking. When they entered Dazuma couldn't help but have a sense of glee. So this was how the lecture halls of the Nightmare looked?! It was so organic, truly breathing life into the whole knowledge is the root of all things aesthetic. Such a simple yet breathtaking decorum, completely parallel to the grandiose layouts of the halls back home. He felt so at ease here, not like having four tutors beating principles into his skull and shoving etiquette down his throat. Here...he might actually learn something a bit more tangible than all that stuff. He continued to take in the room whilst making sure to give Misha a bit of space to keep cooling down.

"So much history in one place..."

He said as he eyed the varying fixtures and the realms insignia. He walked along the wall side. He couldn't contain it any longer! He whipped out his notepad and began writing down his thoughts and process about what he was seeing here. He had read 23 essays from different astrology scholars all hypothesizing the plethora of mysteries surrounding Vescrutia moons. Just as he got started he heard Misha cry out and his focus immediately snapped over to her where he noticed the large bird organizing. So that was the infamous Counselor Hughes. It was good to, after everything they been through, be able to put a face to the man...er...bird. He roughly stretched a replica of the eye of infinity insignia in his book before joining Misha. He was anxious for the answer to her question as well.

"Mother be still!"

Master Hughes exclaimed In total shock. The bird elv lost grip of his many papers, parchments which were sent spiraling the floor. He kneeled down to the cobbled stone floor and began scooping them into an organized pile once more. Misha froze. This was certainly a day of first. At least she got the bad shit out of the way. Cause public disturbance, frighten a high counselor and possibly destroy some important documents. She might as well had committed murder by the look of guilt in her eyes.

"I'm- I'm sorry High Counselor!"

in a haste rushed down to help the old owl but she treaded a bit more lightly, assuming she had done enough damage already. But the owl waved her off with his very unique five fingered wings.

"It's quite alright, really. Really..."

Like the Destati he wore a simple cloak of a neutral grey color thrown around his body. There were sleeves cut to allow his large wings through which were an auburn color with grey dots near the fingers. Despite the gruff tones in which he spoke which implied some age, there was such color on his wings that made him look rather young. The rich brown color waved and ebbed long his body, Misha trace it with her eyes until it framed his face which had a pie shaped white patch in its center along with a long yellow hooked beak and two beady, jet black eyes. Misha didn't know much of the Owl Tribe, she knew they hailed from Emeralds Ascencion, staying aloof in the high mountains observing and recording history as they knew it. They were devout worshipers of the Primodial Scholars who very much shunned the Warg People for treading the lines of Man and Beast. Why would any of them join with Neovia?

"I'm sorry Counselor, I wanted to attend your lecture but-"

"Yes, it was quite full. But I'll happily answer any questions you may have. Granted, I have a meeting in... an hour or so. "

Misha eyes Counselor Hughe's time peice. It wasn't large enough to fit around his wings but he was looking upon it draped around his neck. It was circular with three points facing different directions upon the watch's face corresponding to tick marks. Was this a watch? Only people who were incredibly busy wear those.

"What this? All the Counselors wear them. All these meetings and such. Talking about anything or nothing at all. Young man! Who might you be to-"

"Misha."

"Misha, And a warg no less. The strength of Neovia's COER. And your companion?"

He angled his neck ever so slightly around Misha's burly physique glaring at Dazuma.

So this was a High counselor. Neovia truly was filled with marvels of all kinds. To think such a being existed just a hop skip and a jump from the Mountain tops. Though its unique colors and the pattern of its face reminded him of a tale his mother his father used to read to him when he was young. A ballad that weaved together notes and expressions that told the story of a race of Owls that took up the sacred duty of being keepers of knowledge, hiding it atop the mountains of the Emerald Ascension using the turbulent storms to keep would be knowledge hunters away. They were said to hold some of the most ancient lores and secrets and their reach of wisdom spanned several thousand years back...some even into the future. Seeing Hughes fumble through his paperwork made Dazuma suspicious of whether the fumbling fowl as truly the stuff of legend. But then again he had seen many whimsical folks possess the most solid of cognitive ability. He bowed slightly before the counselor. An honor to be sure.

"Might I say counselor it is very nice to meet you, I'm Bo."

He said with a casual smile mirroring a bit of his anxiety. An hour? He cursed the heavens that he could not take at least 5 to begin the fundamental break down of just the surface knowledge Hughs must've possessed, especially with Misha enthusiasm and falling over herself with nervousness he just knew this being held the goods. This was one of many times now Dazuma got a little homesick. They were perks of having access to lofty lineage. He would've begged his mother to ask for a private discourse from Hughes. He sighed inside, Neovia, however, was so strange, they did not care for the stature of bloodlines. They existed simply as neighbors. They didn't even use coin but simply bartered with each other. But regardless his eyes still lit up with glee at even the chance to ask him anything at all. He was learning from an actual teacher that was not of his family line. Straight from the horses mou- Owls beak. :-3

"We didn't wanna impose, but Counselor can you please tell us of the Astral year? I'm a bit of a novice of Neovia and is wonders. It would mean a lot to a couple of aspiring scholars."

He had studied some theories of different cosmic happenings but he had not delved far. Some things, some awareness his brother did not allow him to have. Keeping his shackles on him tight, his coils of suppression...Dazuma could still feel his familiar grasp on his life at times though it had been a month since he ran away from home.

Hughes looked at Bo, then at Misha who both had equally anticipating, hungry, eyes. It was looks like this that brought life into this old owl when most of his days were spent researching and reading books. Sharing knowledge was so much more fun than diving into some old dusty book. And while he couldn’t smile, being a bird, there was a clarity in his eyes and a relaxing in his demeanor that elicited that he was not only happy but relieved to talk more about the astral year.

“Oh, is that all?”

He said kindly, and made his way around Misha. Began to pull some chairs from behind certain desks together. Misha was incredibly eager and pulled some chairs together before Hughes had the chance to exert himself. She motioned for Bo to have a seat. She welcomed his presence after the whole ordeal but couldn’t help but think Bo was an alias now that she heard him speak. But she would talk to him about it later. Hughes was about to lecture yet again. This time it was a personal tutoring session!

“I thought you would ask me about the existence if Divine Anima or the whether or not shadow jinn are still out there, or other fairy tale bullshit! But the Astral Year! Yes yes, I theorize it is indeed upon us. Come sit, and I will tell you what I know.”

Office hours were open, and Hughes was ready to share his wisdom and his proficiency of cosmic phenomena. Misha was waiting anxiously and had taken a pad and paper out of her pack to write some notes.

Divine anima? What in the world is an anima?

A term he had never heard before. What did it reference? Some type of weapon? Furthermore, what was this talk of Jins? In the furthest reaches of his knowledge of his people's lore, it is said that the Emerald King came to be through the bonding of man and god, a deity of lightning; A Raijin...

Rai...Jin? Wait, could it be?

He didn't completely brush off the thought but got distracted once Misha offered him a seat along with Hughes and herself. Maybe she had forgiven him. He smiled, earnest were the couple steps he took to sit down before whipping back out his notepad. They were about to receive an honor like no other! A personal tutoring session with a High Counselor! He quickly jotted down his thought around the word Raijin before the course began and quickly turned to a new page, his thick coffee-colored locks draping over his face for but a moment before he looked back toward Misha with a celebratory grin that could be passed as a little creepy. But this was the stuff he yeard for, knowledge of the outside world. He became surer of himself, more confident in the path of solitude he had taken. This was what it meant to be a scholar. For a monarch to walk his own path so that he one day could lead others on theirs.

He didn't say anything he just kept his eyes focused on the teacher. The hand holding his pen itching to etch the oncoming words of wisdom down within his own tome of study. Wh knows he might just comprise all of his discoveries and knowledge and create his own guide himself. Fleeting thoughts he pondered as he waited with thick anticipation. Finally...what the hell was the Astral year. And what did his heart thump heavily every time someone spoke of it?

“To speak of the Astral Year is to speak of the history of Vescrutia itself.”

Hughes began what appeared to be a textbook introductory thesis to his take on the extremely rare cosmic phenomena. He paused for a moment to gather his thoughts, disregarding his paper stack of notes entirely. Misha tired to look them over, her curiosity drawing her eyes to their corners, she noticed diagrams of planetary alignments, calculations and the sort which could only be the Hughes-Principle. The formula for predicting the Astral Year and other cosmic phenomena, the first Vescrutian calendar. She tried to control herself, while copying down what she could from his notes while Hughes collective himself.

“It’s the rarest of the cosmic phenomena that appears in our skies. The Moonlight Equilibrium, The Mothers Eye, you’ve heard of these yes?”

Misha nodded as she scribbled, she knew the question was rhetorical but she wanted to give him some cue that she was listening diligently.

“Well the Astral Year, while I’ve never seen one, looks like so-“

Hughes shuffled around his papers. Misha deduced he was incredibly disorganized.

“Now where did I put the damn thing.”

He spilled a stack or two on the floor, instantly Misha scooped them up in her giant hands.

“Oh you’re so kind. Thank you, here it is, right on top!”

He held up a sheet of paper with creases and folds, he unfolded it until it was twice the size as his normal sheets with a drawing of the Vescrutian binary star system. In the center was a large orb, the mother herself. On the outside extremities were the two moons positioned directly in line with her equator and the two suns positioned in front of the two moons.

“It’s a solar eclipse?”

Hughes nodded pleasingly. Misha’s corner of her mouth got wrinkles with excitement.

“Its not just any solar eclipse, the planet drinks in so much radiation and power it spreads among all of her creation. The Astral Year is The Mother’s greatest gift to us all. Yet why does it bring the return of the horsemen?”

“The Horsemen were defeated.”

“Wrong my dear. The Great 13 merely drove them back. And what of Kemet? Are you familiar with the disaster Bo?”

His eyes were fixated on Hughes. The moonlight Eqlibruem?! The hell was that?! He wouldn't pander them with things he knew he could go research himself. He jotted down bullets points before those words as a note to himself to do so. Misha was like a giddy little girl right now and it just furthered the exuberance Dazu was feelings. He was glad to see her mood had shifted, he was used to angry bears being around the Urso, But Misha was an actual one and her temper probably was much worse. Getting on her bad side was not something he was interested in.

"Can I see that Counselor?"

The paper, he wanted to stretch it and if he was given the paper that is exactly what he would do. Dazuma was a surprisingly talented drawer and writer and would be seen sketching the star system miniature in his own little pocketbook. As he worked on this he continued to listen to the Maxwells lessons. So the Astral Year was a time of planetary alignment where everything on the face of the mother experiences a large increase in naten supply? The mentioning of the Horseman rose and eyebrows. He looked up placing his pencil under his chin. What did the horseman have to do with the Astral Year? He had read of it, the destruction of Kemet his father held much wisdom and of the few subjects he spoke to Dazuma on before his untimely passing he told much of it to his son. Dazu though was quite young then, some of those tales are shrouded in ambitious clutter.

"Kemet, a city that could be said to be the originator of Vescrutian Civilization. I've heard it even be called the motherland at times. Prosperous and beautiful. But...ten years ago...The Horsemen came giving birth to its end. The 13 barely surviving the encounter. But Counselor..."

His eyes became glinted with worry...

"Are you implying that the Astral Year will draw the Horsemen here once more?"

He remembered the day Kemet was crushed, though he did not witness it first hand the ripple effects of his destruction sent shockwaves through his kingdom/that had the Denkou shutting down everything and going into panic room mode It was a day of darkness and loud chaotic noises. A day he hated...

"Can I see that Counselor?"
Hughes jittered a bit, as the feathers around his neck frilled out and in. The sudden question definitely interrupted his thought process. But he appeared to have Dazuma’s attention

“Oh this? Why this is a mere doodle.” He handed Dazuma
The paper sheepishly leaving Dazuma and Misha both to to stretch it out among the floor between the three of them. Dazuma was a surprisingly talented drawer and writer and would be seen sketching the star system miniature in his own little pocketbook. As he worked on this he continued to listen to the Maxwells lessons.
“It’s a solar eclipse?”

Misha blurted, the drawing implied that The Astral Year was an even where Vescrutia became drowned in the light of both suns. Hughes nodded pleasingly. Misha’s corner of her mouth got wrinkles with excitement. She looked to Dazuma with his notepad in hand, he appeared to be keeping pace

Hughes continued, taking the pause for pondering rather than a question.[/quote]

“The Horsemen were defeated.”

Misha countered. Hughes parried the logical blow.

“Wrong my dear. The Great 13 merely drove them back. And what of Kemet? Are you familiar with the disaster Bo?”
“Kemet, a city that could be said to be the originator of Vescrutian Civilization. I've heard it even be called the motherland at times. Prosperous and beautiful. But...ten years ago…Kemet was destroyed.”

Hughes paused and looked at the diagram drawn along the ground with now concerned eyes. It was a moment he hated, when knowledge only yielded grave news. But all the signs were pointing toward the truth. The Horsemen arrive during or after a string of unprecedented conflict and crisis. The Astral Year is upon them.

“I mean to say the Destruction of Kemet, 10 years ago while it did not occur during the Astral Year was not an isolated incident. There are always events of wanton destruction occurring prior to the Horsmen arrival. I mean to say the destruction of Kemet, The formation of Neovia, The conflicts on all our fronts are the beginning of The Astral Year. The horsemen might yet return very very soon.”

Misha was stunned. This was the end of times? The apocalypse? She looked at the diagram once more. The chart of Vescrutias revolution, she traced it with her pointed finger nail. The Fall of Kemet occurred on during a cosmic event called The Mothers Eye, and if she traced the star chart correctly, now it’s the moonlight equilibrium. And what follows?

“The Astral Year is indeed coming. Do the high counselors know about this?”

“They don’t have to see it to believe it. You’ve heard the legend haven’t you? About the Pillars? Vescrutia’s anointed chosen, her agents of change that are called to fight against her eternal battle against the horsemen?”

Hughes leered at Bo and Misha, but then burst into laughter.

“But those are fairy tales… Pillars and Jyn, and such.”

" In a world where fairies may very well exist, I should think their tales bear some probable cause"

Dazuma said leering over his diagram. He thought back to the times where his father read him bedtime stories. Bestiary on all kinds of beast large and small. The lore around different said to be mythological. But everything about Bo's own lineage was shrouded in such an expression. Jyn...

"I believe the Pillars will rise..."

He said gripping his pen, his eyes glinting with a serious gleam. The destruction of Kemet was a mere sign? Things that the horseman was capable of on mere whims. It was not something he could stuff in his subconscious. His brow furrowed with determination, he rose from his seat.

" Though despair and darkness might seek to enfold me, I will tear through with Lucio in my heart and Umina in my hand..."

A mantra that had been passed down through the house of Ri'ore. A banter of courage, a call of victory and perseverance. Dazuma might have been somewhat of an idealist when it came to how he viewed things. But he truly believed that holding fast to one's sense of hope was the key to overcoming all adversity. Even one as foreboding as the Horsemen. He looked to Misha and gave a warm smile then back to Hughes.

"We have hope, as empty as that may sound it is the one thing that Vescrutia has always dared to do, to make the impossible possible. Is this not the goal of every Scholar? To touch the face of things unknown?"

A fire was gurgling inside him

"Darkness will always be met with a light, The Pillars have no choice but to erupt to meet what is fated, wielding Hope like a blade, an explosion of liberating chaos to destroy the Horsemen's draconian order."

He drifted towards days of living under his brothers rule. The totalitarian ways of a monarchy. The overwhelming sense of duty to go and claim knowledge that would lead to gifting him with usurping and ending that system. He had to be the one ...he was the Only one that deserved that honor. His Birthright.

"Counselor, do you think there would be any places spanning back 20,000 years to deal with nomadiac lightning mages?"

The Denkou had no recorded access to their lives during the second Astral Year a time period where they still walked the face of the Mother barefoot across her expanse longing for a place to root themselves. How was it that such a long-standing kingdom not have awareness of its beginnings. They would have him think that life started with the Emerald King. But he knew this not to be true. It was one of the few gems of the pre-golden age of Denkou truth he held with him. The secrets gnawed at him, what was he ignorant of?
