The streams of light of the setting sun casted an orange crimson hue over the laboratory, the white room catching that light so perfectly that one could think the descending star had taken a brush and painted the room in its image.

Tools of all varieties from construction to surgical, beakers of chemicals and magic floated aimlessly around the laboratory. A light hum, echoed and a warmth began to raise that glowing green light in the center of the lab.

Its full shine was being masked however, blocked by a figure who seemed to be managing it. His white lab coat, painted in a mix of the setting sun and mysterious light, his face masked by a pair of protection goggles as he seemed to raise the green light above him.

In full view one could now see that the light was coming from within an orb. The orb, clearly made from some type of metal material, was engraved with runic markings that gave off that shimmering green glow which began to get brighter and brighter until it over took all the light in the lab coating everything in an emerald layer.

But light quickly faded, dimming to the point it was hardly even recognizable, and the lab coated man placed the orb back down on the table. The floating items all too lowered, conveniently back into their proper positions, the energy from the orb clearly being the influence for their erratic behavior.

The man took a deep sigh, as he took the goggles off from his face and wiped the sweat from his brow.

"This Science stuff is harder than it looks." said Maze as he placed his goggles down on the table...next to the orb.

If there was anything Mana loved about life itself, it was light. Specifically, the way that light reacted with things around it. From a young age, she'd taken to crystals and other shiny things that possessed a unique way to display visually pleasing characteristics when hit at just the right angle. Hence, her inspiration for Koudo's new Kingdom, Luxerion. The place where she used to be Queen.

Feeling a bit saddened by the events at Moirai and cautious that an Elf Witch might be sneaking up on Mana's dear ol' dad, the Goddess decided a little bit of espionage was in order. Since around lunch time, Mana had been staking out the Stark building from a safe distance. She'd shed her Witch abilities and cloaked herself under the all-too-familiar mortal guise that had hidden her from family so effectively before. Through meditation and her passive abilities, she could still keep an eye on the surrounding area for the next few hours to ensure no one was trying to pull a fast one on the Ritukes.

Good thing, too. She really wanted to be alone with Dad for the next little while, since things weren't going too well.

Shedding the the disguise, Mana slowly took to the air with the manifestation of tiny clouds of stardust beneath her feet. She climbed the magical stairway of her own creation around the side of the building until she was able to behold a beautifully white room. Awash with colour, it caught her eye instantly and stole her breath away in the form of a longing sigh. Space travel was fun; you got to see pretty colours a lot if you knew where to look. But up there in the deep dark, you truly realized how infinite that Space really is. Moments like these, unique combinations of materials and circumstances to produce this exact display, should be treasured, always. As Mana watched the setting sun strike her father, she watched the crimson tones of his hair come alive as vividly as flame, and knew that she would never forget this particular instant.

She reached out to the glass as she paused upon her floating stardust step, letting her fingertip rest there for just a moment. She wasn't sure if he knew she was there yet, but she had eyes for only her Dad. Mana didn't notice yet the metallic orb, or the array of equipment laid out neatly for a variety of potential experiments. Rather, she was too busy memorizing a father she'd soon have to leave for the foreseeable future.

Maze let out another sigh of relief, he had been at it for...well he wasn't truly sure and reached out his hand toward the empty space in front of him and within his grasp materialized a bottle of water. Quickly unscrewing its cap, Maze guzzled down the refreshing drink and as quickly as it was here it was gone.

It hadn't been easy, the inner workings of the "magic" of Science. Hakku had been teaching him the likes of which since before the creation of the University. The field had always fascinated him as Magic was Maze's whole world, and had always been so to began completely new, fresh, was an extraordinary experience for him. Made him feel like a kid again, testing new things, getting excited over the smallest of breakthroughs. Hakku had most defiantly done his hardened soul some good.

Maze chuckled lightly, half at himself and half at...something else as he rest back upon a chair and peered up into evening light coming through the windows. His attention had been fully on his experiment for the last...however long, but truly could one ever doubt that he wouldn't notice his little girl peeking in from the corner of window.

She had gotten he thought, hiding from her Father, a feeling of both pride and worry arising from that but Maze would alway know when his children are near him. But, much like when Aura and Mana would try to sneak up on him when they were children...Maze would simply act as though he saw or felt nothing, till they were ready to come out.......thou this time he had hoped they had out pouncing on their poor Father.

Kicking back, Maze gestured towards the orbs, lifting it into the air and into his grasp, as he examined it, giving his Daughter time to come in whenever she was ready.

After a moment or two, Mana's touch slowly began to phase through the glass. First it was just her left hand, but the rest of her gradually followed. She phased through not because of her inherent warp abilities; she was actually melting the glass and pushing it away from her body with her subconscious mind and letting it form again behind her with seamless clarity. While her mind wasn't focused so heavily on the past, Mana still reminisced about different memories of her father, namely how she'd seen him age and mature before her very eyes. In fact, she was surprised not to be able to see any grey in the dark stubble he seemed to always sport.

Her shoes were a soft whisper against the floor, but the sound seemed deafening to Mana, having never been one for extended silences. Her silhouette blocked the view now, her glow seeming almost inversed as her starry locks drew in the darkness of space, while the sun kissed her back but cast her face in shadow. Breathtaking, really, to behold; it really highlighted how alien she felt here now.

"What's that?"

She asked, moving forward without hesitation to lean casually against the high back of her father's chair. Her were eyes fixed on the orb he held in his hand as she rested her folded arms on the supple leather, and placed her chin upon them.

His chair began to lean back ever so slightly as Mana leaned on it, Maze having to just slightly readjust himself as he carefully suspended the orb in the air in front of him, giving a slight rotation as he put it on display for his daughter.

"An incubation chamber..."

An odd to say he knew, but the concept of what he was trying to achieve were far more odd then his choice in words. Still he'd have to explain further...couldn't have his sweet little Mana thinking he had turned into some mad scientist...thou "Mad Scientist Maze" had a slight charm to it. He'd be sure his Father would approve.

"Inside is artificial Elemental, whose sole purpose will be to provide near limitless amounts of power to a City."

The green light the shined from with it reacted as if able to understand that they were talking about it, bighting to the overwhelmingly jade glow before dying down let again.

"Hopefully with this Moirai won't have to rely solely on it's Staff, Students....or even myself to protect it...This way our School's fist line of defense will be itself."

The orb ever so gently, lowered down upon the table top and Maze slowly got up from his seat and faced his Daughter...Something was on her mind, this he was sure. He could see it in her face, her posture and though she had matured into a woman that made me so very proud...she was still his little girl and he could tell when something was wrong.

"How have you been Mana?"

An elemental? And Dad hadn't thought to include either Sadako or Altearia? Mind you, Mana hadn't seen either of her parents interacting for quite awhile now. It was complicated when you had two mothers, one of which your father may not even know about? Eh... Mana decided she didn't really want to go near that. She'd had enough of her own romance problems that she didn't want to delve into her father's, too.

"I've been better."

She answered truthfully, reaching out toward the little sphere with a glance toward her father to make sure it was alright. She wouldn't use any magic around the baby elemental to avoid any adverse reaction, but she couldn't help it. She wanted to see if maybe she could communicate with it? Or something? It seemed childish, but that pretty much summed up Mana; curious to a fault, and still rather innocent for all her trials. Or, she'd like to think so.

With the smooth sphere cupped in her hands, she perched herself on her father's desk just off to the side. Her curious magical starry gaze switched on as she attempted to view the little creature inside the ball, and much to her delight, found that she could. It was relatively formless for now, but that was alright. This simply made it obvious that the little elemental-in-development was quite impressionable, so this time spent with her father was absolutely crucial.

"I just came from the Mess Hall, actually."

She paused to set the orb down with great care, even patting it affectionately as she found the perfect spot for it on the desk. She didn't really want the negativity of the conversation to effect it.

"People aren't happy. With a lot of things. They're asking why you haven't been around, and why we aren't making an effort to save more people as the Horsemen rampage."

Yes, Mana knew the term for the monsters that nipped at their heels. She may not have known the extent of the destruction, or the effect that it had on her very own home while Pestilence plagued the Veritas with Insanity, but from just her brief conversation with a handful of people earlier that day, she knew that things were indeed serious. Death was never something that Mana could take lightly, no matter the victim.

"While you work on this... I want to step up and help. I know I can get people here safely, and I know people are willing to help me. But to work this on such a large scale, I have to attempt magic that I've never even dreamed of before."

Both literally and metaphorically bright with energy, Mana took the opportunity to hop off the desk and search around for a paper and pen; both weren't too hard to find. She set the paper down before her father, and drew a couple stick people with pointy hats to represent the University reps, and some normal stick people faaaaaar away to represent the people stuck out in the middle of nowhere.

"I figure that if I can create enough warp stones for enough people, we can bring in lots of people every day, no problem, as part of the relief effort. Maybe even a whole village if we have enough stones. And with the new Moirai people," - she paused long enough to draw little hats on the villagers the originals brought in, and draw more stick people a little farther off and connect the groups with a wavering line. "We can reach out further, until we get to the parts where people really have it bad. We can make allies, and maybe make some progress in figuring out what we're gunna do against the bad guys."

She glanced up at him, wanting to know his reaction to her ideas. Basically, she was giving her power to warp people over to individuals that they didn't really know anything about. They'd made it through the University's screening, but what did that really mean? Would they be able to accurately judge people's characters enough to avoid bringing in agents of the bad guys? It was debatable, but it was still doable, if they approached this right. Mana kept hold of the pen though, just in case she was asked to elaborate.

Maze gave a nod in approval as Mana reached for the Orb. He saw her eyes as her curious nature examined it. Her child like wonder warping her vision, seeing things that were most likely not there...or maybe her eyes saw what truly was.

Maze leaned back in his chair as his Daughter's topic suddenly changed into something far more serious than he expected. The Horsemen, a scrounge upon their planet had been razing villagers and terrorizing the mass for some time now and while the people of Vescrutia were strong and had been up to keep themselves from complete devastation, the Horsemen were beyond strength. Maze had seen it before, on other worlds, in different time lines, their arrival meaning trail, and hardship.

The Insanity, a virus that infected the likes of everyone her had ever known, that had corrupted the heart of the Brother he loved...was but a mere instrument played by the Horsemen to see just how danced to the tune.

Maze's face was a serious one, his Daughter, who had brought with her not only her own options but clearly the will of the people as well asked now why he hadn't done anything to help the world....and Maze was silent.

Mana in full detail gave her Father a plan she had devised to have Moirai become shelter to those in despair, to those in need of refuge.....and Maze was silent.

How could he say anything, when he saw how it affected his baby girl, how no longer was she shelter to the outside, how NO longer was she protected by ignorance...Maze rose from his chair, the lab coat around him seemingly vanished like dust caught up in a guest of wind, returning him to his standard garb. He walked towards the window, blocking the streams of light that shining casting a darken shadow of his image upon the room as his folded his hands behind his back and looked up into the evening sky.

"You have an amazing heart....just like your Mother."

He said, his voice firm but saddened at the mention of his Wife, for he knew that she wouldn't approve with everything Maze had done so far...including what he was going to say next....but it needed to be said.

"And what of your plan then? Just bring any and everyone you find here to act as a safe haven? Our home and nearly everyone in it was lost by act of just one of this Horsemen and you wish threaten the safety of all that again?"

Maze turned to Mana and looked upon her not with the Eyes of her Father but of Man who had been through War....The eyes of a Man that had killed his Brother, The eyes of a man who had sacrificed and saw it avail to nothing....

"Your Uncle, Cousins, Aunt Zita...all gone."

He emphasized the "Gone" with more of a base in his tune for he truly wanted her to hear his words, to grasp what he was saying.

"I promised everyone that Moirai would become a place safety and education, a place were they could start over and live their lives without the worries of things like the Insanity ever again and now you tell me that they question my actions?"

Spitefulness and anger seasoned his words and air in the room grew tense and waining as if the slightest breeze would send him over the edge...thou Maze wouldn't be so dramatic.

Twice over now Maze's interests had brought into question and was moments like this that he wondered if leaving his duties was the right choice...was his influence here the right thing to do.

Unlike someone she'd interacted with recently, Mana knew her Dad wouldn't give in to anger and showy displays. Everyone thought Mana was trying to show off, or boast about her newfound power, but really, she was indifferent to it all. She'd always been a powerhouse; that much wasn't new. What was new to her was having to become this role model, this level-headed leader that she wasn't entirely sure she was ready for. But her blood demanded she rise to the challenge.

Gosh, she wished Aura could stand by her.

Gently, Mana rose to squeeze her Dad's shoulder as he concluded his speech, before she retrieved the paper she'd been drawing on. Around the original group of Moirai representatives, she'd draw a box. Above that, she drew another of equal size, and brought this back to Maze.

"I know that everyone's gone." - of course, she didn't know exactly how. That, Maze had succeeded in hiding from his little girl. - "But that's why this would be magic I'd never even dreamt of."

She pointed to the little box, encircling the little figures with her finger.

"See, the guides wouldn't bring people back to Moirai with the stones. They'd be set to deliver people to a realm just before Moirai, like home used to be floating on its own? I would need to create something like the pocket dimensions of the doors at the Labyrinth. One for people on foot and all their vehicles, and another for flying folk, or for those people that just wanted to warp on their own, since you can't just warp into the middle of Moirai. It would also work for people without bodies, like the people I spent time with in the Astral library."

She paused, knowing her father was plenty smart enough to grasp the concept, but maybe a little too angry to know why Mana still pushed for this. It wasn't that she was taking the side of the people blindly, or being pressured into representing them...

"We can't always get it perfect the first time. You succeeded in giving us all a place safe from the Horsemen. That's so incredible! I haven't even had to think of those guys besides what people are asking to do now.

"I believe everyone is worth saving. Even the people that have done the most vile things in the past. Dad... I'm technically a murderer. My sword used my body to kill Aunt Crux when I fought her. Am I not worth protecting?"

Her starry eyes were sad as she regarded him, frowning a little.

"Even though Aunt Crux killed Mom after Aura and I were born, it wasn't really her fault. When I looked into her soul, all I saw was a kid, just like me, that didn't get to be a kid. A kid that had to bathe in the blood and innards of her Mom's enemies just to make her Mom smile. That's just messed up. Who's to say even someone doing the horsemen's dirty work isn't being forced to in order to save their family?

"Not everyone is bad just because they can be... Sometimes they just have to be. But if we can help them so they don't have to be, if we remove their ability to do bad until we can figure out how we can help them, like while these little holding dimensions, I think the risk is worth it."

Maze was surprised by Mana's confession, expressed through the quizzical look on his face. He questioned if her claim was true, to him Crux had died the day she killed his Wife, he had never considered she had survived or returned...but then Sado had came back to him. The fact Mana even knew who she was, was reason enough for him to believe her claim...as she shouldn't of known anything about her deranged Aunt to begin with.

It pained him to hear his little girl try and justify that psychopath's madness but he realized his personal feelings blinded him. One more loss end that caused more trouble, if only he had done more... That battle never should of been fought and Maze felt a stinging pain from deep within, as if one had stabbed his pride...but he would endure. This was about more than him.

"Of course you're worth protecting..."

Maze chuckled as he wiped away the forming tears in his eyes...for he began to realize that for all his Power, he had failed in doing his number one job...keeping his children safe, to shelter them from the hard world. It was the reason as to why the rooms in the Labyrinth could be molded by one's thoughts, so that his children would be able to create a world they wished to see...It was the reason why he took up the task of being the host to the Heart of Chaos, he'd try to shelter it all from them so that they could live carefree...but it seemed the veil of ignorance only spread so far.

Maze hugged his little one, his Mana tight to his chest. One day he would ask her about all that had happened but for right now...they had work that needed to be done.

"So.." he said, letting her go with a smile his eyes still slightly red from the tears. "What would you have our first move be?"

"How about an explanation?"

Came a voice from the window where Mana entered. Basking in the afterglow of the setting sun stood a woman of average height, fantastical features and a rather large golden mop of hair tied back into a bun. She was adorned in the regalia of her position. It was a beautiful earthly dress who's intricacies were lost to the shadow of the sun. It's threads were splotched with brows and greens, budding fresh flowers and interwoven with dreams and nightmares. Tyrande looked legitimately concerned. Like Mana the peanut gallery mixed her motions. They particularly mistook her passion for anger. Rituke's weren't worth getting upset over, but this abandoned place certainly was. And someone who didn't care, descending from on high, to help us help ourselves was not the way to do it. It just didn't sit right. Neither was enslaving elementals, but we'll get to that later.

It wasn't difficult to infiltrate the Stark Building undetected. The Stark Building was publicly accessible, and all Tyrande had to do was simply follow Mana. She was a skin changer among many other things, and disguising herself as the native wildlife of Moirai appeared to yield great rewards. One of which was eluding a particular power house.

"I appeared in your office a while back Maze, and I'm still waiting on approval to teach here. But you've been in here creating and enslaving forces of nature hm?"

She shifted her weight, never straying from the windowsill. Any sudden movements may be interpreted the wrong way. Maze's negligence had precedent. And Tyrande's personal account of his behavior was nothing compared to his sudden absence. If he preferred to spend time in the Magic world than here, then he should say so. If he had a legitimate reason then say so. But any utterance of bullshit would provoke a reaction most gruesome, and it wouldn't summon any golems, or break any rules.

The hug was brief, something that Mana would have much rathered to savour for a while more. She took that time in the brief moment to figure out just what made a hug from her father so unique; it wasn't just the unconditional love he felt for his little girl, but also the scent she'd always recognized as 'Dad' enveloping her just as completely as his arms. If she could bottle this exact moment, she'd never feel lonely again, that was for certain. She'd have to spend as much family time with her father as she could before she left.

As he pulled away, Mana's lips parted to reply, but she was interrupted by a shiver that raced down her spine. She bristled before she even heard the voice, her expression hardened from the unguarded and innocently nostalgic to something very nearly emotionless. It was a practice often employed by her mother during diplomatic occurrences, and she adopted it instinctively.

"I'd like it if you didn't speak to my dad that way. There are proper channels in the chain of command that you could have brought this through, rather than..."

Suddenly, her expression turned puzzled. Her eyes flickered with a bit of magical energy, analyzing the makeup of the Witch's magic, and the basic bits of her soul that were most visible at the current moment. It was heavily influenced by her last transformation, and those immediately before. By looking at her, Mana could tell her transformation history for a couple days, and a bit longer if she really looked hard. Overall, she couldn't figure out what made her so nervous around the other witch. Was it the transformative unknown? Her multitude of inner beasts? That didn't make any sense, considering her ex-boyfriend's nature, nor the multitude of pets that she'd bonded with in her time with the Tamura's. No, it had to be something different.

Maybe it was just the outwardly challenging nature of the stance she'd taken. She had no respect for Maze's past accomplishments, but Mana suspected that was because she didn't know of them. Hardly anyone seemed to have current knowledge around these parts, and it bred an anger and fear that was extremely hard to combat. Mana had ideas of what to do about that too, but that would have to wait.

"I'm sorry."

She admitted, bowing her head slightly for a moment.

"I don't know you, but I feel your concern. I've never done this before, but I'd like the opportunity to build something to leave behind. Dad works too hard, and this is the least I can do. What's immense celestial power if you don't use it for something good? I was planning to unveil things once my Dad had helped me work out the kinks. Because I know I don't have the experience to be changing the fabric of reality without guidance!"

Mana straightened, clasping her hands behind her back.

"I've made planets with the potential for life, or even some itty bitty creatures on them, but I wouldn't dare play with people's lives."

Maze greeted the new arrival with smile, taking a step away from his Daughter toward the windowsill putting himself between Mana and this anomaly though he shortly found she needed no help from Dad.

Her Mother would of been proud with how she handled herself and Maze himself felt a trickle of pride to have his Daughter defend him...but he would handle his own business.

"Ms.Tyrande, a pleasure."

It wouldn't take long for Maze to place her, Tyrande was a top contender toward becoming a Teacher here at Moirai, one Maze was very eager to see put to work helping and naturing the new generation...but a lass....

"I must apologize for my absents, I've been busy "enslaving nature" as you can see." Maze gestured over toward the dimly lit Orb with a smile, a joke though he quickly realized not everyone would think it so funny.

"I-I I'm not actually....Anyway, I thought processing you through was finished ages ago, If that's what you need me for then I would be happy to speed things along....After I finish her with my Daughter."

Maze stepped to place himself at Mana's side, She genially favored her Mother, both of his Daughters did, but anyone could tell they were blood, they shared the same nose.

"Allow me to introduce you. Mana, this is Tyrande a powerful Witch who I hope will still be giving Moirai the benefit of her teaching here."

Her issues couldn't wait to climb the ladder of bureaucracy, a system as lazy and treacherous as her golden locks. Moirai was running smoothly, but it's process were as tied up and convoluted as the bun she chose. Her concerns werent as easily solved by being allowed to teach to a stable of dead horses. Tyrande didn't roll her eyes, though they were mentally doing somersaults.

"*sigh*"

She was being disrespectful enough as it is. Breaking into the private quarters of some authority figure and calling him out on his ideals. She was past the point of no return and regretted everything from her outburst to tracking Mana this far. But she knew she was right, and she didn't need the hollow words of an obligated two year old to verify it. Which is why she ignored everything she said, maybe it was some trickle down tensei that made mana feel the need to imply her power through her speech. Tyrande didn't care, true power didn't lie in the ability to create worlds, or break them. It didn't descend from a higher dimension or lie in books...

"Where are the Deathscythes Maze?"

It lie in the ability to move masses. And this sleepyhead had enough sleep. Her visage didn't yield any nuance of insecurity, Tyrande was as relaxed as a well napped baby, and didn't need the sedation of Maze's compliments to bolster her inquiries. There was a time when Maze and his brother were spoken in the same breath as the other more responsible authority figures but Tyrande, a frequent scholar of Vescrutia's space time continuum knew that these magical beings from their magic world, weren't supposed to be here in the first place and it was an act of mercy that they were allowed to rectify their own mistakes.

Everyone thought Mana was trying to act tough, to spout all this big talk without having anything to back it up. Crestfallen, it took only a moment for Mana to feel left out, like the little kid brought along to her father's important meeting to go play in the corner while the grownups hashed things out. She really didn't know if she was ready for this, or even if she ever would be. It was Aura that should be doing this diplomatic stuff; with her level head and booksmarts, she'd be a natural. At the same time, a little part of Mana recognized that this really wasn't like her. She was much more used to being friendly with absolutely everyone. Had so much really been taken out of her? Fighting and death and shit really wasn't something she was comfortable with, and maybe this disconnect was part of it. Swallowing hard, the Witch looked away, vowing to try to sort out the knots in her soul sometime soon.

The mention of Deathscythes made her perk up, however. It made her wonder where her mother's partner was, the mysterious soul that seemed very nearly immortal, transferring his service from one generation to the next. He seemed timeless, and hadn't aged a day from what Mana had seen. Time seemed to be an irrelevant thing to her now, from the circumstances of her rapid growth to the timeless beings that seemed to surround her. People came and went from her life, but only true death was ever final. For example, if Mana died now, that was it. She had a predetermined date sometime in the far-off future that would spell the end for her. Maybe a morbid thing to think about, but maybe by then she'd welcome the rest. Suddenly, Mana felt incredibly old, far beyond her years.

She turned to bring her attention to her father, searching his familiar face for clues. The last she'd heard, they (the Deathscythes) had mostly gone to protect family, friends, or ventured out on smaller peacekeeping missions in the outlying villages. Looting was a huge problem with some of the communities outside of the major nation's reaches, at least when there weren't established authority figures to keep things in check. But asking Maze to keep track of every single one of his Deathscythes was a tall order, seeing as her Dad had done away with the mentality of refusing his subjects freewill for fear that they'd bring about destruction. But Mana really didn't know what was going on in her dear old Dad's head sometimes. He'd seen so much, and he wanted to protect his family from it the very best he could. That meant keeping everything close to his chest, and never really letting Mana fill the role he'd asked her to all that time ago. A request that had burnt a lot of bridges that ones seemed unbreakable.
