Cross was overwhelmed too. More soldiers on the front line meant more LYFE syringes to heal wounds their First Responders had no knowledge of. More soldiers on the front line meant more battle suits, weaponry, and other supplies that she alone wanted perfected and ready. She had forgotten everyone was stretched paper thin, and she hated to admit it. But she did feel guilty for holding everyone up. It was silent after Kham's deafening roar. Whether the silence was filled with guilt or admiration, or fear was unknown. For Cross it was a mix of all three. She could only imagine how Ken felt, having to actually work for once.

"Aight big dog. I'll be right up. As soon as I find a pair of pants."

And Cross vanished. The panels in the floor separated revealing a black abyss down below. Whirrs of machinations gave way to Cross rising through the floor hastily putting on a pair of joggers. She sauntered over toward the table and slapped Atra on the shoulder, and kissed Savaj on the forehead.

"Hey baby girl. Long night?"

She parked it next to her, and kicked her feet on the table... a second thought later, she took them off. She was pushing it. But she just felt comfortable among the things she created. And this room took A LOT of time. Hooking it up to Kham's prints, which were burnt off, or covered in callouses, which thereby hooked up to his Cosmic Awareness and glyphs. It was a structure of Mechanics and Naten, something Cross hoped to bring to all of Neovia- technoorganic structures.

“Shid, I’ll let you know when its ova’..”

-She murmured lowly after Kham’s cathartic and subtly vindictive call to action. She felt like his crimson daggers were staring directly into her soul during his verbal lashing, it sank her further into her seat until he finally started the mission briefings.

She cleared her throat and crossed her arms while the 4D Videos took over the surrounding walls. Despite the holographic display of her team’s heroic and admirable feats, Savvy’s baggy green couldn’t look less interested.. She barely knew any of them aside from the absolutely ridiculous stories she’d hear at taverns and bars so couldn’t recognize the little nuances her present party shared in. Most of their professional history had been redacted from public knowledge, ESPECIALLY Tj and Atra’s, but she wasn’t the type to force an interest in someone’s past anyway.

She probably could’ve probed each of their minds the second they were introduced.. probably.. Savvy’s instincts did kept her from fully trusting anyone, let alone members of a guild of cut throat assassins, but she didn’t care enough to pry.

She knew they were badasses, she knew they were on her side, but she was indifferent toward them beyond that. Cross aside, most of COER kept to themselves which insinuated they probably felt the same way about her.. she found the distance was comforting.-

“..iight, so who’s the mark? What’s the op?”

-She said as the cosmic power point reached its end and Kham surrendered the floor. She wanted to cleave through the awkward silence and jump into the fray before her intense synthetic candies reached her blood stream. Whatever they were about to do, she knew murder and wanton destruction were involved since her drunk ass was enlisted to the assignment. Granted, Savvy’ figured if Kham sent a Psion to head a diplomatic exodus, she would have been completed the job a hundred times faster than his warrior god daughter. But she wasn’t complaining.. her jobs were typically direct and to the point. She got to reserve her creative energy and unmitigated output on her own personal endeavors.-

“Finally the superstars have assembled.”

Kham harrumphed, and looked over his motley crew. Atra couldn’t drop his perm-sarcastic smirk. Kham felt like punching him in the face. Savaj just seemed totally disengaged and Kham couldn't blame her nor did he want to force empathy, it would just be fake anyway. And Cross was being a fucker as usual. The sooner Kham deposited Atra back in his office, Savaj in her bar, and Cross in her lab? The Better. These were the last three people Kham would entrust to a task this delicate: A mentally disturbed drunk, a socially inept mad scientist, and a grossly flamboyant hedonist. Kham sighed once more, composed himself, checked himself, a scolded himself for letting his emotions take hold of his soul so. His own words of wisdom bounced across his skull creating pangs of regret with each echo.

“Anger is like holding onto a hot coal. Best thrown into the eyes of your foes”

For TJ. For Kayla. For Ken. For The Mother.

He couldn’t even believe he murmured the last bit. Vescrutia had done nothing for him but launch him into war after war. It was all he knew. It was what he was best at. Again he carved the glyph “sight”. Into the table, but scenes of the battle were washed away.

“Our Target is SILK.” But we've long since discovered his real identity, which is perhaps another alias, but nonetheless we've collected quite a file on none-other than Miguel

Digitizing from the display board was a very handsome gentleman of bronze skin, sculpted body, covered in self inflicted wounds, scars with the perfected chiseled jawline of a mountain range and a stare that could put fear in a pack of wolves.

Miguels digital image now took a backseat as the scene devolved into pictures of girls simply vanishing from their beds, bathrooms, homes, places of work, and even graves. Almost out of thin air, until Kham slowed the footage which divulged people in black hoods with an insignia all too familiar to Savaj abducting these women.

"Normally I would consider this a conflict of interest, as one of you are very much emotionally invested. But I have no choice. All of our field operatives, who attempted to intercept this rapture of young women simply reported back that these girls were being transported to SILK."

-Savvy’s dialated pupils swelled into pulsating moons as the digital images came into focus. No Way.. she thought while springing to her feet, dropping her shades and chair to floor as she leaned as far she could over the table. She had to be certain she wasn’t fucking tweaking but that molten twinge in the back of her head boiled away any reasonable doubt.-

..hol’ the f—

-She recognized the men in hoods, despite the fact they were sporting cloaks sewn from of a unique chemical polymer that disguised their bodies and vocal cords every other minute. She counted four of them in every captured image, which she remembered to be the typical number for a collection squad; each tasked with assassinating their partner should their operation go awry in anyway.

Bury all secrets and cleanse any witness was among their dirt tainted creed of protocols but the shadowy entity took many many many meticulous precautions to ensure the ambiguity of their syndicate remain intact. But the unmistakable crimson design threaded into their uniform would twist the stomach of anyone familair to their industry. To Savaj in particular, the sigil burned her eyes worse than a Swastika and unearthed a primoridal fury in her bones that bit through her bottom lip.

“I’on fuckin’ believe it..”

-She slurred through nervous laughter before wiping her bleeding mouth on her wrist. Ya see.. Savaj knew this methodical band of scoundrels personally. Her mother, Reva gave birth to her within their blood slimed walls right after she’d been shared between twelve malicious, sweaty hands for little over two days. Savvy spent six dark years watching her mother get dragged tooth and nail out of the tiny cell they shared with ten other women. And once they were done with Reva, and tossed her biohazard of a corpse into a furnace, Savvy spent another five years three months, and twelve days being peddled as the syndicates new “crown jewel.”

The Ferryman were intergalactic sex traffickers who have utilized demonic and mystical avenues to abduct billions of women from different worlds, dimensions, even periods of time. Savaj escaped their intricate web by stealing their transport methods and recovered her dignity by liberating thousands of displaced women.. and lathering her skin in the guts of her captors.-

“Intel and recon hit tha’ fuckin’ jackpot, huh!?”

-She exclaimed with this crazed smirk creeping across her face. After her vindictive killing spree landed her in prison, Savvy lost all trace of The Ferrymen until now. It was honestly her prerogative for enlisting in COER in the first place and now the dark lords that be were aligning the stars for her black solstice.

“The hell we waitn’ on?”

Savvy said pulling a kunai from her pocket with unnecessary finesse. She didn’t realize it yet, but that opioid tab had settled into her bloodstream and she fucking feeling herself. She wasn’t sure what else was said prior figuring out whoever the hell Silk was. She knew all she thought she needed to.

Find Miguel, Kill Him. Find the Rest, Kill them. The rest of their words fell on deaf ears.-

Atra interjected immediately, Savaj was emotionally compromised, this would not end well. Something was amiss. And Atra couldn't quite put his finger on it. Even when Kham made mistakes, they were calculated errors. Did he really back himself into a corner to rely on these primadonas?

"Just send me and Des'Noir. If it's a tag and bag I can take care of this."

He said hastily from his seat. His eyes narrowed at the mix of emotions floating through the air, attempting to decipher the truth.

Cross was feeling Savaj's energy, she knew that stirring feeling welling up inside that keeps you going by the day and keeps you awake at night. Finally it would be allowed to feast, and when it was full she could sup from the nourishment of sweet vengeance for the rest of her days. Kham picked her because she was owed this!

"He didn't ask you for once. He asked professionals. You go to your little dance party. Clink drinks with the suits. This is mans job. Not for Fairys."

"ENOUGH!"

Thundered the Destroyer, shaking the foundations of the base and undoubtedly dislodging some very crucial components in Cross' laboratory. You could hear the fragile metals shatter however many feet beneath the surface. When all grew to a stillness, Kham continued. He adressed Atra first. Atra the Eager. This Gala, under the Solsctice was unavoidable. Not only did it celebrate 8 Years of Neovia, the number matched with the infinity sign they fly upon their banners, but new allies were emerging to meet with the Counselors and treat. If Atra missed it then what would they do? Have Savaj mind control everyone into thinking they were there?

"Atra you must attend this Gala, treat with the local nations, and factions. Your inability to show would be an insult to everything we've built."

Kham was a lot of things, but he was primarily a man of principle. Of a very strict code. He never broke his own rules. And wouldn't do so now. The display shifted again, from the abducted parties, and the appearance of the Ferrymen to an underwater laboratory with Giant women captured in very congested tubes.

"You will find the situation much more delicate than a simple Tag N Bag. There are hostages. Countless numbers of them. SILK has not just randomly abducted women, but women of rare bloodlines. I theorize, that he's attempting to manufacture Anima as a way to use the Oasis pools of raw naten that would normally be harmful to Vesoterik kind. If you kill him. The Ferrymen go into hiding. The entire underworld goes into hiding. But if you capture him, bring him to me. We can use him to feed us pig after pig to the slaughter. And finally be one step ahead. In case it was not clear, I, Need, Him, alive."

-Caustic emotions spilled through Savvy’s narrowed gaze that could’ve have pierced a Sulton’s stubborn resolve but Kham stood statuesque against her razor sharp daggers. He didn’t flinch or blink after his decree.. was he even breathing? Was this a fucking joke? Cause she couldn’t stop laughing at the idea of sparing these depraved cucks the sharp end of the rod.-

“They right High Councilor, this ain’t ya fight. Save ya’ strength for the Peace Summit.”

-She coyly contended with a playful pat on Atra’s shoulder before returning her attention to Kham. Her heart was thumping against her chest thanks to these opioids but her mind was never truly compromised when she focused it on something. If she had to litigate her case she would do so with grace, but she figured why should she? Atra’s intentions were appraised and understood but he had no dog in this race. Cross was right, Savvy was owed this! But she took a brief second to calm down and breathe before she said anything.-

“Boss.. whateva’ it is you want from this piece’a shit I’ma get it. Names, dates, locations, equations, once I get there all that shit’s mine. He not hiding or buryin’ anythang I can’t I recover, okay? But listen.. you crazy as hell if you think I’m not murkin’ his ass, along with anybody else in there with’em. You.. KNOW what the fuck they got going on, you know what they capable of..”

-She crossed her arms and steadying her breathing. Her throat got lumpy recalling her past aftter glancing over toward the women being stuffed into chambers on Kham’s holo screen, but she wouldn’t allow her emotions to be an excuse to be pity or patronize her.-

“None of that bait and fish shit. Catching them by surprise would scramble their footing, and by then we’d already kno’ exactly where and how to hit’em.”

"Savaj can just drain his mind right?"

Cross said matter-of-factly, that seemed a hell of a lot easier than turning someone into a mole.

"And we can coordinate precision strikes from there. I don't see why we can't just pop his top and call it a day. Free the hostages too obviously."

“Obviously..”

-She quickly added with a wave of her wrist as she picked her shades up from the floor.-
