Pride Of The Eternals

Post by Towa Aseer »

Character Details

Towa, also known affectionately, albeit expectedly, as Towa Takhan, stands but six feet tall, a significant departure from the nine-foot giants that comprised the majority of his kin. Yet, no Aseer would dare mock his stature. His form was a testament to honed strength, a living sculpture of muscle rippling beneath the intricate, swirling patterns of his ceremonial tattoos. His movements, whether stalking prey or navigating the cluttered shelves of his research den, possessed a fluid, purposeful grace born of both physical rigor and an acute, intuitive intellect. His golden eyes, typically alight with contemplative curiosity, held a piercing intensity, a glare that could turn molten when his rare fury was stoked.

Whereas most Aseerians boast of their incomparable strength, Towa takes the most pride in his love of research and the study of biome and the creatures they inhabit. His interest in hunting is purely based on his deep love for the planet and the desire to understand every facet of Vescrutia, particularly her inhabitants, and the rich history of the world. The only thing he cares for remotely more is his family and his chosen. Despite his capabilities, Towa does not desire to inherit the title of Sol Khan from his fater and would rather spend his days with the love of his life.

Nestled at the foot of an expansive mountain range on the continent of Muu is a place where the twin suns, Solaris and Xelphis, bathe the lands in a nearly unending solar saturation save for a scant few hours of twilight. Properly dubbed the "Sunlit Plains," these lands are constantly under the scrutinizing gaze of the twin stars; as such, it is a place of abundant energy and resources. Here, evolution had sculpted existence to thrive under the almost perpetual solar downpour, creating flora that glowed with captured light and fauna that moved with the energy of a thousand sunrises. But among the plains' vibrant denizens, none commanded the same awe and respect as the Aseer.

Before the First Astral Year, they were the Numinous Azeerian – colossal, leonine predators, their massive forms a testament to the raw power of the plains. They were apex hunters, their movements fluid despite their size, their roars shaking the very light around them. Possessed of an incredible healing factor and the ability to absorb the sun's abundant energy through their thick, light-gathering fur, storing it within their magnificent manes, they were virtually invincible during the day.

Their strength was legendary, their resilience unmatched. Yet, they hunted not out of necessity, for the plains provided sustenance aplenty even minimally consumed, but out of pride, out of a need to test themselves against worthy opponents. They were the self-proclaimed guardians of the Sunlit Plains, their existence intertwined with the land and the twin suns that fueled them. Their prides were led by the strongest, their hierarchy a fluid recognition of power, male or female.

Then came the First Astral Year. Planets aligned in a celestial dance, and Muu resonated with transformative energy. For the Numinous Azeerian, it was a catalyst for change. Their forms, over the millennia that followed, shifted. Their musculature rearranging, their powerful hindquarters adapting. They straightened, becoming bipedal, retaining their leonine features – the proud muzzles, the sharp claws now on agile hands and feet, the radiant manes, and awareness of naten. Some looked more human than others, yet were not ostracized for when angered or their lives threatened, they could revert to their bestial forms. They came to be known as "Primals." They were no longer merely beasts of the plains; they were the Aseer, the first of their kind to walk upright, refining their ancient hunting prowess with new agility and perspective. Though over the thousands of years since they became smaller in size, their various sense suffered an equivalent enhancement.

With their newfound awareness of naten, the energy that exists in all things, they became spiritually cognoscente of the realms around them, seen and unseen. This exposure and understanding expanded them from simple hunters to practitioners of mystic art and spiritual expansion. Soon, other roles such as mystics, scholars, druidism, and astrologists who studied and charted the course of the celestial bodies were created, elevating Aseerian society into the bustling civilization it is today.

Early Aseerian culture, and indeed their culture still, was steeped in reverence for Solara and Xelphis. The twin suns were not just celestial bodies; they were the source, the bestowers of their incredible power, their resilience, their very being. Their lives, their rituals, their history were mapped by the cycles of light and shadow – the intense day, the brief, sacred twilight. Their most significant advent was the "Hana no Saiten," the Festival of Flowers, a rare alignment that occurred only once every fifty years. During this time, the elusive Taiyo Lilies, blossoms that captured and held the sun's light within their petals, burst into vibrant bloom across the plains, marking a period of profound spiritual connection and cultural significance.

It was when they spent time connecting spiritually with the land they protected, honoring their fallen and ancestors with sacraments of remembrance. These Ancestors became known as "Eternals". belief was deeply rooted in the notion that when an Aseerian's life faded, their spirit didn't vanish. It returned to the plains, embedding itself within the very earth, becoming one with the vast, sun-soaked soil. They were silent, yet their presence was a constant, comforting weight, a reservoir of ancient wisdom and quiet power. While they did not speak with voices, the Eternals communicated through subtle shifts in the wind, the warmth of the stones, and, most profoundly, through visions bestowed upon those Aseerians sensitive enough to perceive the unseen currents of spirit and memory known as Beholders.

It also catalyzes the determination of the Aseerian Alpha known as the Sol Khan. In observance of this rite, Aseerians who seek to lead must perform three trials rooted in the belief that hunters must possess a strong mind, body, and soul, which the hunting of worthy prey may temper. Aseerians are honorable people and do not believe in fighting a helpless target; such only kill those who can fight back and are worthy of death. Aseerians have always stood as symbols of pride, nobility, and authority, and their impact and endeavors across the motherland reflect this. They have a lasting respect and sibling-like relationship with the Icaryn, often engaging in bouts of playful, albeit sharp, witty banter. Yet when it comes to the defense of the plains and threats to either realm, few domains within the Sunlit Plains share a stronger bond.

Anthem
Heliacal Genesis: The name of the Aseerian ability to absorb and manipulate solar energy. This energy can be used for a litany of purposes, ranging from an offensive burst of scathing heat to warm, ebbing waves of healing force or defensive barriers. Due to their distinct cellular structure, they are constantly empowered by the twin suns, and during the day, are extremely difficult to kill. However, this power boost is ephemeral; should they find themselves in spaces lacking sunlight, they must rely on the finite amounts of solar energy stored within their manes. Expending this energy makes them vulnerable. Because of the enormity of energy flowing through them constantly, most of their arbiters require charging and have to be cast at the CEA level.
Traits
Show

Sol Fist: A martial art native to the Aseerian that is centered around patience, powerful open palm blows with bone-shattering force. Often used as a means of retaliation, it takes the chance to counterstrike after a foe's attack, leaving themselves open. Often it is used bearing in mind their healing factor, allowing them to dish out twice what they received.

Beast Welding: The technique by which the Aseer create Ascendant instruments, tools that allow to use of specific traits of the instrument. The inspiration for Beast Welding sprang from the deep-rooted Aseerian custom of honoring a worthy kill by leaving nothing to waste. It wasn't merely about sustenance or raw materials; it was about respect, about integrating the fallen creature's strength, resilience, or cunning into the life of the tribe. Over generations, this practical reverence evolved, blending the tangible craft of the forge with the intangible secrets of mysticism. They learned to coax not just the physical form, but the very essence of a beast into being. This is done by mystically transcribing the naten of the creature to the armaments, utilizing specialized runes etched upon a mystic anvil. This allows them to wield weapons and armor that retain the traits of the creature they are forged.

Photosynthetic Fur: Aseerians, like many native creatures and fauna of the Sunlit Plains, can absorb and store energy from the twin suns. Though still omnivorous, they can live with the minimal consumption of resources, consuming only what is necessary, as the light they absorb sustains them partially. They can utilize the energy they store for a litany of reasons, most notably the increase of their physical parameters. Aseerians are naturally powerful hunters, but when suffused with solar energy, they become superhumanly faster, their claws can shear through most material, and they heal near-fatal wounds.

Herculean Strength: Aseerians are very powerful, carrying the physical strength and resilience of titans with a bite force that can crack diamonds.

Enhanced Vision: Because of the constant exposure to the intense glimmer of the twin suns, many creatures of the plains have developed special vision that allows them to sift through the blinding rays. The Aseerians are no exception to this. They can weave through the many colors of the plains and settle their vision to see perfectly in the light. They also possess the ability to see in the dark and can use solar energy to expand this sight, allowing them to see through even the deepest blacks.

Synesthesia: Aseerians have a very acute sense of smell honed throughout evolution and training. Their smell is so refined, they can paint mental imagery of their surroundings off scent alone, as well as sniff out and track lingering scents long after they’ve been wiped clean, making them peerless trackers.

Solara's Favor: The term that expresses the unique healing factor of the Aseerians. Because of their rare physiology, they possess an uncanny regenerative trait that naturally encourages the mending of wounds, the time spent on the severity of the infliction. They can convert solar energy to expedite this process, healing superficial wounds within seconds or lost limbs within minutes, even able to regenerate internal organs, though this takes a great deal of energy and is not always successful.

Beholder: An honorific given to those who show exceptional acuity to the unseen through their connection to the planet. Beholders have an exalted position within the tribe as they are the only ones able to master the art of Beast Welding within the tribe. They make up those uniquely gifted at interpreting the will of the Eternals and are typically those to claim the title of Sol Khan. Towa is a beholder and is expected to inherit his father's place as Sol Khan.

Primal: Primals are Aseerian elvs who have evolved to a furless, nigh-human appearing state. However, when under extreme duress can revert to their bestial form. Very rarely, a Primal can even return to their Numinous Azeerian state, but this has been stated to be more myth than fact, as no living Aseerian has been shown to possess this trait.
Faction: Orion Consortium- A conglomerate of guilds dedicated to hunting monsters and other forces that threaten the order of the natural world. It was originally formed after the catastrophe brought on by the Grand Migration, an event that warranted many species across the mother to migrate back to their native lands. During this time, the monsters become especially voracious, venturing beyond their normal borders for food, posing a greater threat than usual to the balance of ecosystems planet-wide. The Aseerian are amongst the eldest members of the consortium and are well respected for their contributions to the development of Ascendant Instruments, specifically tailored to face these threats. They have been a part of the Consortium since its inception, and it is Towa's mother who sits upon its council and guildmaster of the consortium.

Arbiters

Name: Juden
Class-Ava
Description: The unique Ava of the Aseer. It is the process of either collecting or processing solar energy, either ambient or store,d for the use of the following arbiters.

Name: Rei Helios
Class-Cea
Description: Towa's fearsome signature technique. By gathering intense solar energy into his fingertips tips he can unleash a concentrated beam of light at incredible speed. Its piercing powers can penetrate most defenses. It requires Juden to activate.

Name: Sunken Sun
Class-Cea
Description: Towa creates a large orb of solar energy. When it makes contact with matter instead of explosion, it collapses upon itself, creating a powerful implosion that draws in and scathes everything in its center. It is a versatile technique and the size and power of the orb depend on the naten used. It requires Juden to activate.

Name: Sunlit Circle
Class: Dea
Description: An evolution of the Sunken Sun technique. Instead of creating a single large orb, Towa creates several smaller orbs that constantly oscillate around his person. He can control these orbs as he will. It is both an offensive and defensive technique as they seek out naten signatures that differ from Towa's. It is possible to restore lost orbs; they require an activation of Juden to do so.

Name: Scathing Universe
Class-Dea
Description: One of four forbidden techniques passed down through the Aseerian bloodline for the extreme risk to the life of the user. Aseerians have the power to increase their physical parameters by embodying their bodies with stored sunlight. However, the Blazing Universe is the internal immolation of that energy in conjunction with one's life force. This deadly conflagration essentially transforms the user into a living star, drastically increasing their abilities beyond their casually enhanced threshold at the cost of literally burning themselves out, pushing their bodies to the point of extreme exhaustion and quite possibly death.

Pillars
These facets can also be described as some of the great conflicts within human identity.
These three battles are important to consider when building pillars, as they guide the character you’ve created through challenges everyone experiences at one point or another, and can help to visualize the kind of character you start as and the one you aim to become.

Pillar of Projection

Towa has been called one of the greatest minds to ever be born to the Aseerian clan, yet he holds no aspiration of grandeur. He is content with hunting for knowledge, desiring to create a beastiary of the creatures across the planet. His love of this pursuit is shared by his Chosen life partner, Kael, and together they aspire to leave behind something they feel will prepare the future generations of hunters worldwide.

Pillar of Reflection
Despite his constant protest, his father, the current Sol Khan, fervently presses Towa to participate in the Hana no Saiten to join the running to be the next Khan. His family has held it for over 8 generations, something no other family has done, and his father wishes to see Towa carry on the pride of their name and prestige. He sees Towa's chosen Life Mate to be both a distraction and a waste, as he cannot produce a child of his own, being tethered to another male. There exists a complicated dynamic of love, expectation, and disappointment between Towa and his father.

Pillar of Illumination
Your character’s challenge is to overcome to change an aspect of society or the world at large.

Towa's only true desire is the completion of his bestiary and being able to travel the world as a hunter to experience it at large. It is the sole reason for his ambitions of mastering his abilities, as well as why he is a part of the Orion Consortium, of which he aspires to take his mother's place as Guild Master. However, lately he has been beset by terrible visions, dreams of some sort of catastrophe coming during the next Grand Migration.

Bio:
The Lightless Lord and The Peerless One
Show
Centuries ago, before their bipedal evolution, the Colossal Lions were the apex of the Sunlit Plains. Their sheer might ensured the safety of the Great Migration, allowing countless species to traverse the land without fear. This protective role continued as they evolved into the Aseerians, their strength now coupled with intellect and the unique power of light absorption. They were the protectors, the balance keepers.

Then came the asteroid. Not a ruinous explosion, but a vessel for fearsome microbial parasites: the Saiko. Also called Mindflayers, these microscopic invaders possessed an uncanny ability to usurp a host's mind, merging their genetic code to create terrifying Saiko variants, beings combining the host's traits with the Saiko's mind-controlling power, all driven by the will of their eldritch ruler, Supremacy.

The plains' ecosystem reeled. New, horrifying creatures emerged, possessing unnatural abilities and an insatiable hunger that drove species to extinction. The Aseer fought back, forming the Orion Consortium, the first monster hunter guild, to combat this alien threat. Victory against Supremacy's forces seemed within reach until Supremacy itself manifested on Vescrutia. Its cruelest act was the invasion of their beloved Sol Khan, Zula Aseer. The transformation was agonizing to witness from afar, horrific to see up close. Zula, the vibrant leader, became the Lightless Lord, a being of chilling power whose very presence drained the light from Aseerians, weakening them, feeding its unnatural strength. Its psionic whispers enthralled or shattered minds, turning once-proud warriors into empty husks or frenzied puppets. The Aseerians were being hunted to extinction on their own plains.

Fear was a tangible thing, a cold shroud settling over the few scattered survivors who huddled in hidden crevices, the light in their fur and eyes desperately dim. Hope seemed lost, a cruel memory of brighter days.

Then, a solitary figure emerged from the shadows of a rock formation overlooking the blighted heart of the plains. He was young, his frame leaner than the battle-hardened warriors, but the light in his eyes, though flickering, held an ember of fierce resolve. This was Zula's firstborn, who had watched his mother's light extinguished and replaced by the haunting glow of the parasite's dominance. Grief and a desperate love warred within him, but courage, the ancient bravery of the Colossal Lions, won.

He walked towards the epicenter of the corruption, towards the towering, ghastly form of the Lightless Lord that pulsed with that terrible, moon-like radiance. Psionic tendrils reached out like unseen vines, seeking to ensnare his mind, whispering promises of painless oblivion or twisted servitude. He faltered, the pressure immense, his knees threatening to buckle. The Lightless Lord paused its slow, predatory patrol, its form shifting slightly, a mockery of his mother's once-noble posture. A low, alien sound that scraped against the soul emanated from it.

He thought of his mother, of her true smile, of the warmth of her light. He thought of the plains, choked and dying. He roared, a sound thin and weary, but filled with defiance. He channeled the last reserves of his strength, not for attack, but for a single, pure act of love and sorrow aimed at the twisted form before him.

And in that moment, as the Lightless Lord lunged, a power older than the Saiko, older than the Aseerians, stirred. The Eternals, the slumbering spirits intertwined with the very essence of Vescrutia, reached out from the Unseen. They saw the unyielding courage, the selfless love in the face of ultimate despair. Their collective power, vast and ancient, flowed into the protesting form of Zula's son.

The ground beneath him pulsed. The air vibrated with an intensity that banished the Lightless Lord's sickly glow. Light, true light, the twin suns vibrant energy amplified beyond mortal comprehension, erupted from him. His form changed, no longer merely Aseerian, but something... infallible. He became the Peerless One, a being of pure, incandescent power.

The haunting moon-glow of the Lightless Lord recoiled from the blinding radiance that now filled the plain. The Saiko variants shrieked, cowering or disintegrating in the unbearable light. The Peerless One moved with blinding speed, a meteor of light against the encroaching shadow. He didn't just fight; he scathed, erased. His light seared the alien presence, not just attacking the physical form of the Lightless Lord, but tearing at the very fabric of Supremacy's hold on Zula.

The battle was short, cataclysmic. Waves of radiant energy clashed with crushing psionic force and draining darkness. Finally, with a final, blinding burst that dwarfed even Solara in the sky above, the Peerless One struck the core of the Lightless Lord's being. It was not an attack to kill, but to sever. Supremacy's connection to Vescutia, its anchor through Zula, was ripped free.

As the Lightless Lord's form collapsed, reverting sickeningly towards the semblance of Sol Khan Zula, the Peerless One, already fading, performed his final, crucial act. Drawing upon the last vestiges of the Eternals' power and his own immense light, he spoke the ancient sealing arts. From the swirling energy emerged a dark, intricately carved instrument, the Night Hour. With a final, focused surge, he bound the essence of Supremacy, the consciousness that had orchestrated the devastation, trapping it within the artifact.

The blinding light of the Peerless One faded entirely, his body dissolving into motes of pure energy that drifted down to the reawakening plains, joining the Eternals in their eternal slumber. The Night Hour fell silent, a inert vessel of cosmic evil.

The Lightless Lord was no more, only the lifeless form of Sol Khan Zula remained. But Supremacy was contained. Without their ruler's direct will, the Saiko, the microscopic parasites, fell dormant, their destructive sentience silenced, though their genetic code remained intertwined with the land's life.

Silence descended, broken only by the soft return of natural sounds, the first tentative rustle of vibrant grass, the distant call of a migrating bird. Survivors emerged from their hiding places, blinking at the true sunlight that now touched their faces, feeling the warmth return to their fur. Tears streamed down their faces – tears of sorrow for their lost Sol Khan and the impossible hero who had sacrificed himself, and tears of profound, exhausted relief.

The Sunlit Plains would heal, slowly. The Saiko were not gone, merely sleeping, a dark potential lingering beneath the surface. The Aseerians had paid an unimaginable price. But the balance had been restored. The reign of the Lightless Lord was over, ended by the impossible bravery of a son and the ancient power of the land itself, embodied in the brief, brilliant life of the first Peerless One. A somber peace had returned, purchased with the light of legends.

Towa spent his days fulfilling his duties – training in the Sunlit Forms, attending council meetings where talk centered on migration routes and resource allocation, standing sentinel over vulnerable sections of the plains. Yet, his nights were a torment of shadows and the chilling sensation of something vast and wrong stirring beneath the world's skin. The nightmares became more vivid: swirling masses of unnatural darkness, faint, cold lights that pulsed with malevolence, and always, the distant echo of a familiar, beloved roar twisted into a sound of pure, predatory horror. This led him, accompanied by Khel, to conduct his own investigation.

His solitary investigations confirmed his fears. The anomalies weren't isolated incidents; they were threads in a growing, unsettling pattern spread across the plains. While scouting a less-travelled migration path through the Mangled Canyons, Towa discovered a sight that froze his blood. A solitary Sun-Stalker lizard, bloated to twice its normal size, its scales a horrifying mosaic of its natural golden-brown and a pulsating, deep violet. Its eyes weren't lizard eyes; they were multifaceted, shifting orbs of unnerving intelligence, locking onto Towa with predatory focus.

The creature didn't flee. It lunged. Its movements were unnaturally fast, jerky, and powerful. It screeched, a sound that wasn't a lizard's hiss but a high-pitched, alien shriek that seemed to scrape against his very soul. Towa reacted instinctively, drawing Solara's light into his form, his claws extending, his fangs bared. He was a seasoned hunter, but this felt different. The creature seemed to anticipate his moves, its mind reaching out, attempting to cloud his thoughts with a dizzying wave of unnatural hunger and chilling cold.

He fought back viscously, channeling Solara's warmth through his paws, forcing the creature to recoil with a pained, unnatural cry. The violet patches on its hide seemed to shrink slightly under the intense light. He killed it, a concern settling in his chest. A creature capable of leaving a lasting wound on an Aseerian...reaching into him pulling the sun grace from his form....it was more than concerning, it was an omen.

He returned to the Sol Khan's dwelling, his body aching, his mind reeling. He found his father in the private study, the room dominated by ancient scrolls and the faint, resonant hum of what Towa now suspected was the Night Hour, though he knew little of it beyond its name and its immense historical significance.

"Father," Towa began, his voice tight with urgency. "I must speak with you. It's not just erratic behavior. I saw something... unnatural. In the Mangled Canyons."

Zarek looked up from a faded map, his golden eyes, usually so calm, holding a subtle tension Towa hadn't noticed before. "Towa. You are injured. What happened?"

"It wasn't a natural predator," Towa explained, the memory of those alien eyes making his fur stand on end. "It was a Sun-Stalker, but twisted. Larger, orange patches on its hide, and its eyes... they weren't right. And it tried to get inside my head, Father. A cold, empty feeling..." He trailed off, searching his father's face for understanding.

Zarek's expression shifted subtly, a flicker of something unreadable – fear? recognition? – passing across his features before settling back into his usual stoicism, though a bit more forced this time. He rose, walking towards a high window, gazing out at the sunlit plains. "These things you describe, Towa... the plains hold many mysteries. The pressures of the Migration can manifest in strange ways in weakened creatures. Perhaps it was afflicted by a natural blight, exacerbated by the stress."

"A natural blight doesn't try to control your mind, Father!" Towa's voice rose, frustration and fear warring within him. "This felt aware... Wrong."

Zarek turned back, his gaze piercing. "Towa, you are the future Sol Khan. Doubts and fears are natural, especially before your first major command during the Migration. But you must learn to distinguish between true threats and the anxieties of responsibility."

"This isn't anxiety!" Towa insisted, stepping closer. "The Sun-Moss is crumbling, the Thorn-Hogs' unnatural rage, this... thing in the canyon. It feels connected! Like something is seeping into the world."

Zarek sighed, a sound heavy with weary resignation. He walked over to a heavy, ornate chest near the far wall – the chest Towa knew housed the Night Hour, though he'd never been allowed to see it. Zarek placed a paw on the cool metal surface, his eyes distant. "There are burdens, Towa, that must be carried alone. Truths that are better left undisturbed for the peace of the world."

"But if these things are a threat..."

"They are being managed," Zarek said, his voice firm, final. "As they have been for centuries. Your duty is to the Migration, to the visible threats that the Orion Consortium is equipped to handle. You mother and I, we have it under control. Trust in the ancient ways, Towa. Trust in the balance."

Towa wanted to argue, to demand answers about the chest, about the "ancient ways" that felt increasingly inadequate against the creeping wrongness he felt everywhere. But his father's posture, the set of his jaw, spoke of an unyielding resolve forged in the fires of history Towa couldn't comprehend. He could see the weight on his father's shoulders, a burden that seemed to grow heavier with each passing Solara cycle.

He left the study, his heart sinking. His father didn't understand, or worse, did understand and was deliberately keeping him in the dark. The vibrant energy of twins outside seemed dimmed, even at its zenith. The Great Migration was only weeks away. He knew, with a certainty that chilled him to the bone, that the strange occurrences weren't random. They were a preamble. A sign that whatever his father was guarding, whatever ancient secret the Aseerians kept, was coming undone. And the looming catastrophe wouldn't be from a natural predator, but from the cold, unnatural darkness that had clawed at his mind in the canyon, a darkness he now suspected was tied inextricably to the forgotten history of the plains. The 'ancient wrongness' wasn't a phantom; it was waking up.
