Character Guide

Post by Ves »

Name: Chosen or given name if not the same as your Username.

Order: The form of life your character takes on Vescrutia. Human, Fae, Elv or Undead. Refer to our glossary for guidance.

Tribe:

The family or tribe you share with those like you on Vescrutia and depict what your character’s Anthem will be. The Anthem is the workhorse of your character direction, a birthright gift to you from your ancestors and something you can make your own through exploration of your character’s story. When crafting your character, your Tribe dictates a lot of background on your character, from your Anthem to the Traits and Factions available to you. Read more about them here.

Anthem:
The birthright of every Vescrutian that is born Naten is part of a lifelong connection stemming from the first Vescrutians to become Naten Aware. Legend has it, through their existence and evolution, Naten Awareness was granted to the rest of Vescrutia through their Anthem.

Naten Awareness has evolved through the ages into different specialized abilities, honed by the local ecosystem. While everyone can have some aptitude for learning to bend the elements to their will, certain skills are unique to particular bloodlines and are what sets your bloodline apart from others. This bloodline gift opens your character up to special Arbiters and/or Traits available only to you and your ilk.

Traits: Traits are passive abilities granted to your character by learned discipline or passed down by birthright. Imparted by Tribes, Factions, or through rigorous training, Because of this, each Trait has a specific stat correlated to it that can be invoked during your roleplay. Learning to wield a sword or bow and arrow could also be a trait for your character, as could learning how to conjure fans and manipulate the elements or special energies. It’s all up to you and your RP’ing skills to figure out which traits you have access to cement your character in the lore and mystique of Vescrutia.

Faction: Any organization that your character belongs to
Factions are beholden to schools of thought that bind its members to one another. Families, friends, strangers sharing worldviews, any group sharing a similar line of thinking can be considered a faction and every Faction has a qualifying characteristic to gain designation, but the numbers are as numerous as stars in the sky. The ways that they can change the expression of Naten are just as numerous, imparting Traits and Arbiters to those who obtain membership to them.

Arbiters: The innumerable ways of Naten manipulation
Arbiters are the expressions of Naten on Vescrutia, the spark of creation in all Naten aware entities. Arbiters represent the myriad ways one could have access to a new dimension of Naten Awareness and manipulation. Arbiters can be broken down into four distinct types that reflect their cardinal phases in bringing the techniques to manifest.

Explore deeper here.

Pillars:
These facets can also be described as some of the great conflicts within human identity.
These three battles are important to consider when building pillars, as they guide the character you’ve created through challenges everyone experiences at one point or another, and can help to visualize the kind of character you start as and the one you aim to become.

Pillar of Projection
Your character’s struggle against the ideals or actions against another individual.

Pillar of Reflection
Your character’s struggle to achieve their goals and fulfill their ideals.

Pillar of Illumination
Your character’s challenge to overcome to change an aspect of society or the world at large.

Unique Marks: Identifying characteristics for your character
Each Tribe and Faction and individual has certain characteristics about them that sets them apart from any other on Vescrutia. Hair and eye color, typical size and shape of appendages, coloring or tattoos should be included here

Bio: Character’s actual backstory
Your character’s backstory is the most important part of who they are and why they are here. Sure, all the bells and whistles of powers, abilities, and magics and Pillars are exciting, but none of it is important without your character’s backstory to support it. Long or short, this is who you are and can grow as your character goes on more adventures and discovers more about the world of Vescrutia.
