Jae involuntarily squeaked with glee when he felt the satisfying impact of his hardened shoulder across the unprotected chest of his slippery father. He didn't pause to bask in it, but drove himself forward. He poured the speed on, tucking into it more and relishing the violent crash of slamming into the cavern wall behind them.

Then he dug deeper, driving them deep into the earth that made up the structure of the cavern itself, burying himself and his father deep into the cliff face the cavern was a part of. Jae's intent was the drive so deep that they came out the other side, when ever they reached whatever the other side could be. If he was conscious, he'd have been surprised when he was stopped.

His father's glittery luminescence didn't register, and the rage monster continued to try and muscle forward, through his old man. Not feeling any give, he began to throw wild forearm strikes. Each one shaking the foundation of the cavernous system.

Masur dug deep, and dug himself deeper into the earth surrounding him and Jae. Jae's momentum was halted, and with that so was all his power. Masur's Rhum couldn't absorb Jae's energy fast enough to slow him down, but his protective shroud, or Rhem, at a significantly higher output was more than enough to bolster his defenses and give him his bearings.

Masur didn't think that it would come to this. He always took Jae seriously, but he only noticed now that Jae had reversed his original plan. Masur had been on the defensive back foot, Jae continued to make advantages and press them.

It had to be the curse. Masur thought he understood it, but maybe Eshira had been more cunning in its inception than he originally surmised. And what were those black tendrils that struck out at him, but retreated shortly after?

All these things swirled in his mind, as the impact of Jae's forearms reverberated around them. The loud, thunderous booms growing more and more silent as time went on the and wilder Jae swung. Masur's radiance only grow more overwhelming. Jae's power couldn't be directly stripped from his, but the aftermath of his tantrums always helped the Seeker quell them. (Rhum used)

Masur's ears twitched then he reached out and chin checked his son with a flick of his wrist. The impact causing the walls around them to crumble down, bringing empty loot sacks, sleeping bags, and crates of supplies raining down around them. Masur used enough force to send Jae flying upwards into the barracks of the goblins the boy massacred.

He spread his arms outwards, rolling his wrists and hands. The motion drew forth the water rushing to the room they'd been in and the small creek of water from outside the cavern. He clasped his hands together, drawing the pools together before the gigantic bubble they formed began to rotate. Slowly at first, before it gained speed so rapidly that it generated it's own wind forces.

The quieting of the thunderous impacts shook the hold the Tyrant's curse held on him, briefly. The blackness of his sclera lightened, though the red remained in his iris. He beheld his father's majesty for perhaps the very first time time this close.

He'd heard stories, from his mother and those around him, about his father and the power that his family wielded. Many times, Jae had come face to face with it, but had never seen it as radiant as today. He felt a bittersweet... pride?

Jae grimaced at the thought of that. Why would he feel that way? This power wasn't his own. As far as he cared, it never would be. He thought maybe it was because this was the first time he'd drawn it out of the old man. That was where it came from, the only sour note was that he might lose... again.

Lose? Lose? he cursed in his mind.

"I can't lose..." He whispered through gritted teeth, locking eyes with his father one last time as he felt his head toss back violently and his large body being taken upward with a force that he couldn't fight against. He slammed through falling boulders, crates and stalactites, until his momentum was stopped with a sudden crash against the cavern's ceiling. It cratered, but didn't budge. Jae knew it was because his father pulled his hand.

The darkness recoiled twice as quickly as it retreated, rushing back to the forefront of Jae's mind and enveloping his senses again. Before he lost himself, he grunted, "I... won't." Then the darkness roared! The amplified anger being more than his conscious mind could withstand. That inky blackness shooting out from behind him like a shroud of his own, threatening to not only cover him but to expand and engulf everything in the cave.

The magic circle surged with power, almost in tandem with the sudden swell of energy she felt from the lower levels. Their daughter had warned them, and Odea breathed a sigh of relief knowing Masur was beginning to see Jae as the threat that he was. No longer could he toy with the boy and then send him on his way. Every encounter from now on was life and death.

And ominous darkness began to fill the cavern and it made Odea uneasy. What was this new power she was feeling from Jae, and was it really there to help him? Or was Eshira using him for something else nefarious?

The light of the magic circle grow more, before cracks began to form in it, stretchering across the whole surface. Odea rose her hands to the heavens once more, before falling to her knees and slamming the ground with her palms. The portal shattered inwards, and two swirling orbs of energy, one a deep purple and the other a brilliant sapphire, rose up from its interior before shooting off towards and action in the caverns below.

Odea breathed easy once more, and stayed low before her form was collected into a swirling ball of energy that, too, shot off towards the action below.
-------

Masur stared on sternly. He had handled this situation with too much folly, but a part of him was glad that he did. If he hadn't then there was the possibility that he wouldn't have gotten the chance to see what he was witnessing now.

This evolution of Jae's cursed power was much better observed first hand, so Masur wouldn't be caught of guard with it later. It was dangerous to face it alone, but he was never alone. He left Odea as a contingency, and she'd gotten it done.

Masur rose his hands towards Jae, the rapidly rotating whirlpool shooting towards Jae and the inky blackness that he was producing at the speed of Masur's conscious command. When they came into contact, like Masur had surmised, the blackness recoiled away like it was repulsed by the Seeker's naten and control. Which was perfect, because it let Masur envelop Jae and his blackness within the sphere.

"Yeah dude," A new feminine voice said, though who she was speaking to was anyone's guess. It was brash and a little abrasive, but filled with a youthful sincerity. The sapphire blue orb touched down on the ground beside the Seeker, before it rapidly began to gain a human form. "You fucking will, Warlord!" From that form, an energy being pulsed out of her, first at twice her height, then 4 times, then 8 until it was the height of the cavern's ceiling. She rose her hands, the 'Warlord', as she called it, raising its hands in tandem and reaching to engulf the water sphere in it grip.

The purple orb landed further away, across from where her father and sister were. It rapidly gain human form, two human forms. One significantly smaller than the other, and standing at her side. "Like we practiced, Masur-Khana." The taller one, stomped the ground and thrust her hands forward before making the motion that she was tearing something apart. The cave's ceiling split open shortly after.

"Duh." The other woman replied, clapping her hands repeatedly and causing her energy projection to do the same, applying more and more crushing pressure to the sphere of water her brother was trapped in.

The inky blackness recoiled, or did it willingly retract, and condensed itself down and around Jae, and only Jae, engulfing him in a cocoon-like glob of hardened blackness. Just as this precautionary measure was taken, the cocoon was encased in a violent rotating sphere of water, that buffed and raged against the cocoon but left no visibly physical damage. Inside, the cocoon pulsated, slowly.

Within Jae was unconscious, and the curse had begun to subside. Much like a sensory deprivation tank, Jae was blind to the outside world. Blind to everything except a sweet voice whispering to him through the darkness. Because of this, the curse had nothing to agitate it and so Jae was lulled, for now.

The cocoon began to pulsate quite rapidly the more pressure was applied to it by the clapping of Warlord's master and the squeeze from the energy projections massive palms. It pulsed out of sync with the rhythm of the clapping, at first, before joining in stereo. As it pulsed, it began to expand. Expanding out to the size of the water sphere around it before condensing itself down into a tiny pinpoint in space and blinked away.

Masur and his family had won the day, Jae being spirited away by whatever the blackness was that had accompanied him this time.

The titan continued it's booming claps, squeezing the water prison harder and harder. Until Masur-Khana, Khana to her friends, Masur Jr. to her father's foes, ceased her claps. She looked over to be father, and laughed, "He ra-" she stopped when she saw the look in the Seeker's luminescent eyes. She straighted her posture, her stance and stared forward as well.

Masur didn't ignore his middle child, but her affable boasting wasn't necessary, not now. Not when they had witnessed a new evolution in the strongest threat to their continued survival. That blackness swallowed Jae, after protecting him. He could only assume it was a mutation of the curse, but he couldn't be sure.

Kara, after securing Korra behind her and shielding her from any residual danger from Jae's energy, felt relieved. She could feel the difference in the tyrant from the last time that they crossed paths and she was just glad to be rid of him. Fixing her face, she smiled as she knelt to Korra, stopping her from staring at the radiance of their father.

Odea returned to her husband's side not too long after, manifesting behind their middle brood. She placed reassuring hands on her girl's shoulders, hoping to relax her in the presence of Masur. He was the ideal she strove for, after all, but he wasn't an idol. He was her father.

Masur stopped his staring after some time. Looking around at the faces of the family he had left, he could tell that most were worried, but generally okay. He swallowed his misgivings for now, Odea's knowing smile was all he needed.

He patted Khana on the head, "Okay! After honorable combat..." He yelled to his children, clapping his hands to get Kara's and Korra's attention.

Khana relaxed at her mother's touch, and resumed her cocky smirking once she heard the levity return to the Seeker's voice. Kara glanced over her shoulder and sighed quietly before whispering to Korra. Korra stepped from beside her sister and clapped her hands.

In unison, the clan, save for Odea, clapped their hands together eight times. They bowed towards the hole Kara ripped open in the ceiling and exhaled. Masur and Khana's naten returned to a neutral flow, slightly rejuvenating them but not completely restoring them.

"Until we meet again!" They yelled to Jae, where ever he may have been spirited away to, knowing they would see him again, even if they had no idea when.

"I'm glad you all came." He admitted to his children. Kara told him to call, but he had his doubts about whether he would need it.

Odea nodded in agreement. She'd made the call, it almost always came to her. Masur always had reservations about putting his girls in danger, and Odea did too of course, but she knew their strengths. They worked better together.

Khana spoke first, almost like she was trying do beat Kara, "Yeah, well, can't ignore mom." She would never dream of it, and she'd be lying if she said she hadn't been excited.

Kara didn't bother competing of Khana, she never did, "and Jae is a major threat." She added. Ironically, she hadn't told the old man to call because she anticipated the Tyrant's appearance, but she'd be lying if she said she didn't have a bad feeling when she came for Korra.

"Now. More than ever." Odea further clarified in the clear, matter of fact way she normally would. She collected her youngest in her arms.

Masur agreed."There's no doubt about that," he paused to consider his next words, "You were exceptional, as always."

"Tell me something I don't know." Khana replied, pretty much on instinct alone. Why wouldn't she? She considered herself a genius of the battlefield. A savant of slaughter. Kara had several examples to the contrary.

Kara didn't respond, not immediately anyway. She studied her parents faces, trying to get any kind of read on what they were thinking. If they actually understood and meant what was coming out of their mouths. Jae was much more than a fun nuisance for the family to train against, but Masur couldn't stop putting on the kiddie gloves every time he showed his face. She loved her brother, she wanted him free and his mind restored. That goal seemed to get further and further away with every sighting of him.

"My mission," she looked at Korra, then back to her parents, "You have to look after her." She was late as it was, and protection detail was always some anal lord who valued punctuality above all things. If she showed up with the kid now, she wouldn't be able to explain.

Khana, always the talkative one, "Who cares? Jae could be back any minute. We should stick together."

Masur shook his head. He didn't believe that Khana had been slacking in the job department, but this pained his ears. It was why he didn't want to bring them in, partially anyway, "No Kara, Korra was looking forward to seeing you."

He turned to the children he'd given his namesake, "You, Masur-Khana,"

"Shall work." Odea finished

Taken aback, "What? It's Kara's mission." Khana protested. Why should she waste her time with that when there was still more training to do? She'd never catch the old man, or Jae, if she was constantly working for people that didn't appreciate her skill nor respected her because they weren't allowed to know her heritage?

She looked to her older sister for any sign of alliance, but was met with the most disingenuous frown, "Oh, poor Khana. Having to actually work, instead of being a fist for brains all the time." Kara scoffed.

Khana gritted her teeth, "You wanna fucking go?"

Masur took a step forward, but was gentle pull back as Odea stepped forward instead. Handing Korra to Kara, she turned to Khana, "I do," she admitted, "You were right, Jae knows we are here. We are safer apart, for now, so we should go," she spread her arms out to the side so her palms were about parallel to her hips, "I decided that you will work, so fight me. Then you will work."

There was a pause.

Khana narrowed her eyes. Not at her mother of course, she wasn't crazy, but at her older sibling. Begrudgingly, she straightened her face, "Fine," she rolled her eyes.

Odea lowered her hands and smiled, "You've grown." She was proud. When Khana was younger, she'd of thrown the punch and felt sorry about it for months. Once, she went into self-imposed exile until she could bring herself to look at her mother again and not feel guilty. Of course it didn't actually hit Odea, quite the contrary, but Khana was weird like that.

That left Masur with the final word, and he would not waste it.

He, too, felt that Khana was correct. Jae was a mounting threat that only got more dangerous the longer they let him linger... festering in darkness and deceit just out of Masur's perception. Still, Masur couldn't drop everything he had built, specifically their business, to hunt for the boy. Jae would find him again, he always did, and that time... Masur would be ready.

In the meantime, he needed to discipline his laziest, the one he'd given his own namesake. Had he been like this when he was her age too? Self-Centered and a lot of bit cocky? Odea chuckled quietly, Masur could only assume it was because she was reading his thoughts.

He cleared his throat, the children straightened up and paid attention, "I'm disappointed, Khana, but not surprised. You can be better." He didn't think he needed to say anymore on the subject. Examples proved that when he told Khana how disappointed he was in her, she fixed whatever behavior disappointed him. Masur knew he had good kids. All of them.

"Now that Khana has accepted her fate, we can actually discuss what's next for everyone. Kara, your mother and I are trusting you to keep Korra safe. Khana you'll take all of Kara's missions from this moment on, until WE," He emphasized the 'We', motioning towards himself and his wife, "Can get a handle on this Jae situation." It was for the best for the girls to stay clear until they were really and truly needed.

He looked at his wife, who's face was acceptance and understanding. She had to understand that it was safer to keep the others out of it. Masur wouldn't argue, and Odea had a distaste for it.
