Re: Venkage Character Template: Venkage Clos
Anthem: Dance of the Three Currents, Cru Classe - Venkage have an instinctive connection to the currents that move through and around Vescrutia. They can sense and harness currents from the greatest of ocean and air currents to the most delicate electrical currents flowing through and around us.
Traits:
Saltare Marlboro
A traditional dance of the Venkage that they have integrated into their lifestyle on the archipelago. Though it is a dance with agile and acrobatic footwork and steps, it responds to the practitioner and envelops them in an energy that brings the wind and water to life around them. The movements mirror those spoken of in the Salta Tres, the Legend of the Three Currents, a myth recounted for millennia and weaved into the everyday lives of the Venkage, and are displayed for recreation, used to navigate the islands, and for ritual combat ceremonies.
Mistral Arts
Mistral Arts are charms crafted from biomaterial of the Venkage. Mistral interacts with Naten like a circuit, using specialized formations and crafting to manipulate currents in energy to achieve a certain goal. Hair, skin, fingernails, even blood, sweat, and tears can be used and they each have their own properties and acuity for conduction. This Trait is typically found only in individuals with Squall Stripes.
Unique marks: The Venkage hail from an archipelago near the equator of Vescrutia, with tan and amber skin with bright, sun bleached hair. They possess curly hair that can be styled easily, and it ranges from bright white, or platinum, to a deep purple, and all the tints, tones, and shades inbetween. Their eyes range from piercing white , aqua blue, or deep purple with some rare cases of more exotic colors. They also rarely possess Squall Stripes, shimmering white stripes on their bodies that resemble Storm Glass, a material found in leftover lightning strikes on in the Silvaner Storm Shadow.

The Marlboro Archipelago
The Venkage Clos inhabits a tropical mountain range jutting out of the Balmung Sea. Marlboro Archipelago is a group of islands with a single large island shaped like a shark tooth with a number of smaller ones within its crescent gulf. The mountain range’s curvature creates a strong underwater current through the islands with temperate waters and a great surfing season.
Silvaner, its main island, has its most habitable region on its inner coast where it sports white sandy beaches, some miles of loamy jungle, and steep foothils in the craggy mountainside leading to a high mountain peaks. The altitude and sharp ascent create a storm shadow on the other side. The unique currents running around and under the archipelago make a perfect mix of climate to create a near constant, violently charged storm that takes up most of the landmass, and most of plant and animal boidiversity.
The Islands are made up of a unique mix of bedrock and sand minerality that creates a material they call Storm Glass from lightning strikes in the storm shadow. It turns the high mineral mix into a solid, crystalline mass that treats Naten the way a prism treats light. The Venkage harvest it and use it for a number of applications.
The People
The Venkage Clos (Tribe) are said to be a people who possess an Anthem descended from the Three Currents: Geka, the Flowing Sea, Kaven, the Coursing Blight, and Venge, Chasing Gale. The three are said to dance all around the world, Geka the Flowing Sea leads the journey wrapping all of Vescrutia. Their journey created the seas and currents that make up the Big Blue. Geka is followed by Kaven, the Coursing Blight, who in some legends is in love, in others they are obsessed with Geka and use all their strength reaching for them. They reach for Geka with all their might, creating the lightning that strikes the water's surface. Because of the volatile relationship between Geka and Kagen, Venge , the Chasing Gale followed them, using the winds themselves to protect the world from their partners' affairs and hide the events in the clouds. The cataclysmic nature of these meetings creates storm cells highly charged leylines on Vescrutia and is known to hide ancient Vestiges or Oases behind their curtain. One of those places is the Marlboro Archipelago.
The Venkage live relatively simply, farming and cultivating the land to their needs. They are mostly vegetarian, eating the fruits and vegetables that come straight form the island, while using some creatures to make food or clothing. Their clothing is light and airy, since temperatures are steadily warm and tropical, and everything is handmade. They take pride in their craft, showing their personal flair and technique in the intricate patterns they learn to weave into their clothing and the tools they make. Families divide up work on their homesteads and communities and treat them like games to help the days keep from dragging on. Their lightheartedness lends them to being exceptionally good at dealing with their animal neighbors, even the predators at the top of the food chain. Since the Silvaner Storm Shadow is battered almost constantly with gale force winds and a raging storm sweeping down its slopes, it makes them appreciate the abundance they live in on the inner coast.
Venkage bond in groups as adults and produce offspring no matter the configuration. Venkage childhood is short and sweet, growing from an infant to a fully competent individual by the time they turn 1 (10 years Common). Their next mature decades are comparable to a full fledged adult's. Most Venkage lave to a couple centuries but certain stories tell of individuals who may have reached millennia.
The Society
The Venkage live simply and freely around the island. They don’t have much use for money, but find better value in the connections they make and bonds they share. The families eat together at sundown often with their neighbors, sharing in the bounty of their surroundings with their neighbors. The Venkage are known to be bright tempered, carefree, and easygoing, as all their needs are generally met on the Archipelago. They have no predators and live in close harmony with the animals in the jungle bush, spending most their days dancing around the island among one another.
The Oro, regarded as the oldest and wisest of their communities are the leaders of thought in the Archipelago. Their group has existed since the island has been mentioned of in their historical record as those who show the way. The Oro have been credited with developing and maintaining written manuscripts detailing all of the Tribe's history, but also showing the Venkage how to manage the land and the island’s resources in a way that does not disturb the harmony of the island’s other inhabitants.
The elders have been in able to glean information over the millennia and generations about the nature of their Anthem and their relationship to the Three Currents, searching for the truth of their story. They hold themselves to be the keepers of their Tribe's history, and in some cases, arbiters of its dissemination. Though most Venkage of their own nature are very open, pragmatic, and cooperative, the elders seem to grow more rigid and private with time.
In contrast, the Alsace are a group of volunteers that work to help the archipelago make sense of their lives secluded on the islands, locked away from the rest of the world. The Alsace are made up of people from every island and background, and actively work with those with Squall Stripes to make sense of their often heightened sensitivity to the currents on and around the archipelago. This heightened sensitivity affords them a deeper understanding of the Three Currents and oftentimes a deeper connection to their Anthem and the Traits that are associated with it.
The Alsace are comprised of a range of individuals who handle a lot of the community organizing for festivals, events, celebrations, and milestones. Where the Oro are more concerned with the preservation of the history of the Venkage, the Alsace prop up their daily lives as pillars in the community, bringing the islands together in concerted harmony easily.

Re: Character Template: Venkage Clos
Beckoning of the Eye
The Venkage have a unique force that wades its way through their society, besetting itself on those with Squall Stripes. The force pulls at their hearts and minds, and draws them deep into the Silvaner Storm Shadow beyond the Jugalan Ridge. This force is most commonly attributed to the Spirit of Three Currents, said to draw Squall Stripes to the deepest parts of the Storm Shadow where a legendary deposit of Storm Glass is said to rest. Unfortunately, the Silvaner Storm Shadow is home to terrifying beasts and harrowing landscape in addition to its constant, hurricane climate. For the uninitiated, this force calls them to their doom, not to be heard from ever again. For others, they return a different person, almost like the storm washed away who they were. The Venkage leverage the influence of Alsace to help navigate the Beckoning, as many members possess Squall Stripes or have returned from the storm shadow unchanged.
Alsace and the Oro share contrasting views of the phenomenon, where the Alsace are more inclined to explore the depth of the feeling and the storm shadow itself, the Oro cast doubt on the transient feeling and claim it’s a age old plot by an ambiguous force that consumes the Venkage, taking those it’s chosen as an offering to the Three Currents. These offerings keep the archipelago in harmony according to the Oro, and those afflicted should be allowed to act as they please, in accordance with the natural order.
Among the population, moods are mixed, where most people just want to see their family home safe and sound. This dark force afflicts most everyone on the archipelago where its reception is mixed, some call it a blessing, others decry it a curse. It’s true nature awaits to be seen, though Alsace works to make sense of it however they can.
